The Yin Side Paihia

Kia ora my name is Francie and I am the owner of The Yin Side Paihia. Originally from Ireland I arrived in Paihia 18 years ago and it has been home ever since. I discovered yoga about 10 years ago and fell in love with how the practice could strengthen the body and quiet the mind.

I accidentally stumbled into a yin class in Auckland and was immediately hooked. Having the time to sit and let my body really let go and surrender into the shapes, focusing on my breathe brought a new level of stillness to my mind and body that I didn't know I needed. I completed my Yin Yoga training with Yin Culture in Opoutere, Coromandel in April 2019. This was a completely transformational experience that blew my mind! The photo below is of my graduating class.

With the Yin Side I wanted to a create a safe space that is inclusive to all. A little haven that people can come to and leave their everyday stresses behind and slow down and breathe.

Yin is a special practice that is accessible to all body types and fitness levels. It is is a simple, quiet practice that is mostly floor based.  Passive shapes are held for longer period of time and with the help of props you will find yourself relaxing in to the shape, allowing the body to soften and let go naturally without pushing or straining.

It is a slower and more meditative practice which helps you tune inwards into your mind and the physical sensations of your body. A simple potent practice that can be made challenging or restorative. It will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and renewed.

I look forward to welcoming you to The Yin Side to hold space for you to slow down and tune in to your body
